The Engineering Department is responsible for the provision of Municipal Council engineering services, management of parks and gardens and maintenance of motor vehicles, plant and equipment. It is also be responsible for provision of fire and rescues services. It is also responsible for inspection of vehicles, dredging and pontoon crossing services.
The Department is responsible for the provision of community development services and social protection programmes. The Department is also responsible for the management of Council properties and housing units, as well as administration of bus stations and market facilities. It is also responsible for provision of library services, management of Archives, cultural matters, sports and recreation activities and skills development.
The Department is responsible for development control and regulation of land use, provision of land survey services and promotion of research and development. The Department is also responsible for facilitating the formulation and implementation of policies and coordination of cross-cutting issues and climate change adaptation.
