SOLWEZI YOUTHS CHALLENGED TO BE CHANGE AGENTS

Solwezi district Mayor Mr Remmy Kalepa says youths are integral stakeholders in socio-economic development hence the need for them to work towards being change agents in their sphere of operation.
Speaking when he graced the 2024 Solwezi Youth Indaba held in the Boma Conference Hall at Provincial Administration offices ahead of the Youth Day celebrations on Tuesday 12th March, 2024, Mr Kalepa stated young people should embrace innovation, and skills acquisition through education that will in turn develop the district and the nation as a whole.
In this vein, he assured the youths of Government’s support in their pursuit of championing the development of their district.
To achieve this, Mr Kalepa added that it is critical for the youths to learn from the bravery and sacrifices of their forefathers to find solutions to the challenges confronting the nation.
His Worship the Mayor assured the youths that Government will continue to take all necessary measures to empower them with knowledge and skills through skills development initiatives in various youth resource centres and tertiary institutions.
Other stakeholders in the district were urged to place youth development as a priority in their annual programming.
At the same event, Solwezi Municipal Council Socio-economic Planner Ms Mahongo Mukuma encouraged youths not to tire in applying for sponsorship/empowerment under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) which is one among many initiatives that Government is using in changing lives.
She further advised the young people to take advantage and apply for the 2025 CDF which the Local Authority will be calling for applications within the course of this month.
The 2024 Youth Day will be commemorated with a focus on: *”Zambia at 60, be the change”*.
