Solwezi Municipal Council today held its last Ordinary Council Meeting for the year 2025 at the Council Chamber.

The meeting was presided over by His Worship the Mayor, Mr. Remmy Kalepa, who later handed over the chairmanship to the Deputy Mayor, Mr. Adrian Nkolomba.
A key highlight of the meeting was the approval of the proposed 2026 Council Budget amounting to K304,915,114.00. The approved budget is anchored on improving service delivery, expanding infrastructure development, promoting environmental health, and strengthening local economic activities throughout the municipality.
Once the budget receives final approval from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, the Council will proceed with the implementation of several people-centred capital projects. These include, among others, the commencement of Phase One of the construction of an Inter-City Bus Terminus, installation of street lights, paving of car parks and other open public spaces, drilling of boreholes in markets and bus stations, as well as the procurement of refuse management equipment.
During the sitting, Council also deliberated on achievements recorded in 2025 across various sectors of development, most of which were implemented through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and the Ward Development Fund, reflecting Governmentโ€™s continued commitment to decentralisation and community-driven development.

The Council noted its continued focus on the effective delivery of services aimed at improving the quality of life for the residents of Solwezi.
