Solwezi District today joined the global community in commencing the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence at Mitech Market, under the theme: βUnited to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls, Men and Boys.β
The launch was officiated by the Provincial Permanent Secretary, Col. Grandson Wishikoti Katambi (Rtd.), who delivered a compelling appeal for action. He urged both men and women to promptly report any form of violence to law enforcement officers to help reduce GBV cases within the district.
Col. Katambi also called on young people to refrain from misusing social media, particularly in ways that fuel gender-based violence or spread online threats. He stressed that consistent reporting of GBV incidents to the police remains crucial in the fight to eliminate the vice.
This yearβs commemoration saw strong participation from key stakeholders, including the Zambia Police, ZAF, Zambia Army, Zambia Correctional Service, the Judiciary, NGOs, and Kansanshi Mine, all standing together in support of a society free from violence.
