Solwezi Municipal Council has procured a brand new CAT Motor Grader under the 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocation, which has officially been commissioned for road works.

The launch took place on the Kimakolwe–Mitukutuku road and was officiated by Solwezi Central Member of Parliament, Hon. Stafford Mulusa, who was joined by Solwezi Municipal Council Town Clerk, Mr. Stanley Mbewe, Sandangombe ward Councillor Manix Kapelembe, Kimasala ward Councillor Phillip Tapula, Kyafukuma ward Councillor Fickson Mwanaute, Kyalalankuba ward Councillor Davy Mubiana and the CDF Committee Chairperson, Mr. Bisalom Luwaile.
The grader has been acquired to improve both urban and rural roads across the district.
Hon. Mulusa noted that the machine comes at a time when the people of Solwezi have been yearning for an improved road network in both town and rural wards.
He emphasized that Solwezi is among the districts where CDF projects are clearly visible and responding to community driven needs. The MP, who also serves as Government Chief Whip, reiterated the government’s commitment under President Hakainde Hichilema to enhance infrastructure development, including road networks, through the expanded CDF.
Speaking on the sidelines of the launch, Town Clerk Mr. Mbewe announced that the grader will be deployed to work across all 12 wards of Solwezi, beginning with Kyalalankuba Ward.
Meanwhile, Kyalalankuba Ward Councillor, Davy Mubiana, commended the Council and the CDF Committee for securing the grader, describing his ward as privileged to be the first beneficiary.

The official commissioning ceremony was held at Kimakolwe Primary School in Kyalalankuba Ward and attended by community members eager to witness the launch of what has been described as a major step in improving Solwezi’s road infrastructure.
