Solwezi Municipal Council marked the Local Government Week from 10th to 16th August 2025, a time set aside in the local government calendar to take services closer to residents and interact directly with the community.
On 11th August, our activities took place at Mitec Market while on 12th August, our Officers from various departments were at the Main Market, to share information and answer questions on services designed to improve livelihoods.
Onsite services include:

CDF Application Support โ Distribution of Constituency Development Fund application forms to interested applicants.

Mobile Health Clinic โ The District Health Office is providing free health checks, including blood pressure monitoring, malaria testing, and other basic screenings.

Public Health Unit โ Offering information on hygiene, sanitation, and disease prevention.

Administration (Committee Section) & Council Police โ Engaging with residents on governance and public safety matters.

Housing and Social Services โ Explaining community development programmes and social welfare support.

Finance Department โ Revenue collectors are educating the public on the importance of paying council levies and licences, explaining payment procedures, and issuing invoices for 2026 licence renewals.

Agriculture Department โ Sharing information on services and opportunities available to local farmers and agribusinesses.
Our exhibition stands were located at the Main Market Car Park area and the public were encouraged to visit us to learn more about the services we offer and how they can benefit from them.
All activities were being conducted in line with this yearโs African Day of Decentralisation theme:
