Zambezi District came alive on 10th August, as the 2025 Lunda Lubanza Ceremony brought together dignitaries, community members and visitors to celebrate the heritage of the Lunda people of Senior Chief Ishindi.
Among the attendees were officials from Solwezi Municipal Council (SMC), led by His Worship the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Adrian Nkolomba and Town Clerk, Mr. Stanley Mbewe. They joined the colourful gathering that featured traditional dances and symbolic rituals that have been passed down through generations.
The ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Gift Sialubalo, MP, who was accompanied by North Western Province Minister, Hon. Robert Lihefu, Provincial Permanent Secretary Col. Grandson Wishikoti Katambi (rtd.), Councillor Davy Mubiana and Director of Housing and Social Services Mrs Exhildah Kabutu.
The event showcased the rich traditions, history and unity of the Lunda people, reinforcing the importance of cultural heritage in fostering community identity and development.
