Solwezi Municipal Council Town Clerk, Mr. Stanley Mbewe, yesterday witnessed the official handover of 28 motorbikes to the North Western Province Council of Chiefs during a ceremony held at the Provincial Administration premises.
The motorbikes were officially handed over by the Permanent Secretary for Technical Services in the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr. Nicholas Phiri.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Phiri said the motorbikes, procured through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), are intended to support the work of 28 government recognised chiefs across the province.
The motorcycles will be operated by the Chiefs’ Retainers to help improve mobility within their chiefdoms and enhance communication as well as service delivery at the grassroots level.
