COUNCIL RECEIVES A DONATION OF 100 WASTE BINS FROM KANSANSHI MINE

Solwezi Municipal Council has received a donation of 100 waste bins from Kansanshi Mine PLC during the World Environment Day commemoration held at Mitec Market in Solwezi today.

The donation aims to support the Council’s efforts in reducing littering and improve waste management. This initiative aligns with the Council’s mandate to maintain cleanliness in public spaces.
We express our gratitude for Kansanshi Mine’s contribution, noting that the bins will help provide designated waste disposal points and contribute to better overall waste control.
Solwezi Municipal Council Town Clerk, Stanley Mbewe, has thanked Kansanshi Mine for its continued support in tackling indiscriminate waste disposal across the district. He has highlighted that the donation is timely, as it reflects this year’s World Environment Day theme focused on ending plastic pollution.

The bins will be placed along key routes, including the T5 (Independence Avenue), Mushitala-Mine Road, all public markets, and in selected schools. The bins in schools will be part of efforts to teach students proper waste management practices from an early age.
